One of the many advantages of hiking in the Eastfjords is the slightly milder weather. The climate here is generally warmer than in other parts of Iceland, including Reykjavík, making it a more pleasant and comfortable environment for outdoor activities.

Itinerary
From Reykjavik to the Heart of Lónsöærfi. Start your adventure with a morning flight on 7.7.2025 from Reykjavik International airport to Egilsstadir airport, where your guide will be waiting. From there, we´ll drive to the charming town of Höfn, the gateway to our journey. Our adventure truly begins as we board Super Jeeps for an exhilarating drive into the highlands, making our way to Illikambur . This is where the road ends and our hiking begins. We´ll hike down to our cozy hut, which will serve as our base for the next few days, nestled in the heart of Iceland´s untouched wilderness. Once settled, we´ll embark on a short walk to a nearby waterfall, where you can soak in the stunning natural beauty of the area. After a day of travel and exploration, unwind with some gentle yoga stretches, helping you relax and prepare for the exciting days ahead. Prepare for an awe-inspiring hike to the magnificent Tröllakrókar Canyon, true geological marvels. As we traverse this rugged terrain, you´ll encounter surreal rock formations that offer a feast for the eyes and every step brings you closer to understanding the raw beauty and dynamic geological history of Iceland - Distance: 17 km - Accent: 850 meters - Hiking: 8 hours - Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner - Accommodations: Hut
Embark on a remarkable hike up Flumbrugil to the stunning vantage point of Víðibrekkusker. As we ascend, you´ll be treated to breathtaking views and a rich tapestry of geological wonders. The landscape is alive with a myriad af natural colors, showcasing the diverse and vibrant beauty of Iceland´s wilderness. Distance: 13 km - Accent: 800 meters - Hiking: 8 hours - Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner - Accommodations: Hut
Við byrjum daginn á mjúkum jógateygjum fyrir göngu dagsins. Eftir að við pökkum saman dótinu okkar, göngum við upp á Illakamb. Við höldum áfram fram Kambana suður að Eskifelli. After breakfast, we´ll pack our belongings and begin our ascent to Illakamb. Our hike continues south onward to Eskifell. Along the way, we´ll traverse a unique landscape adorned with rugged peaks, offering breathtaking views and a final taste of the regions´s natural beauty. Once we reach Eskifell, our transport will be waiting to take us back to Egilsstadir. In Egilsstadir, we´ll have the opportunity to unwind and reflect on our adventure with a relaxing soak in the Vök Geothermal Pool. Distance: 15 km - Accent: 600 meters - Hiking: 6 hours - Meals: Breakfast and lunch - Accommodations: Hotel
After breakfast, we´ll pack our things and set off for the mesmerizing Stuðlagit Canyon, located in East Iceland´s Jökuldalur Glacier Valley. This hidden gem boasts the largest concentration of basalt rock columns in Iceland, set against the striking contrast of a stunning blue-green glacial river. Following our exploration of Stuðlagil´s unique and breathtaking landscape, we´ll drive back to Egilsstadir airport to catch our late afternoon flight back to Reykjavik at 19.30.
